Upcoming Tengah Town Near to Tengah Town MRT Station
Tengah Town is an upcoming HDB town and planning area located in the West Coast Region of Singapore. It’s bounded on two sides by Choa Chiang to the southeast, Bukit Timah to the southwest, Jurong East to the southwest and the Western Water Catchment on its north and west. It’s also surrounded on all sides by the sea front, which forms the city’s downtown. Tengah EC which is located at Tengah Town is the biggest development in the booming town zone of Singapore and has developed into a mini Hong Kong with retail shopping malls, a sky-touching theme park, movie theatres, a motorway interchange, multiplexes and all manner of entertainment options.
Though small in terms of a population (less than two hundred thousand), Tengah has become the fastest developing town in all of Singapore with the opening of its first shopping village last year and this will benefit Tengah EC residents. This bustling community is made up of more than a hundred shops and commercial establishments. In this vibrant commercial environment, buyers can expect to find a full assortment of goods from a range of manufacturers, specialty stores, antique dealers, restaurants and specialty fruit juice outlets. The town is also home to numerous schools, most of which are public elementary or middle schools.
A walk through any of the markets or shopping streets near Tengah EC location will reveal scores of brightly colored stalls offering a bounty of local cuisine including Chinese, Indian and Malay food. Many of the eateries boast their own take on traditional Chinese fare such as stir fried noodles (especially popular during Chinese New Year) or char kway teow (also known as sweet and sour chicken). While living in Tengah Town, be sure to check out the newly renovated Albert Bakery. Built in 1998, the bakery and cafe features a fresh produce section, a coffee and tea shop, a gift shop, a restaurant (the Laksa restaurant) and a childcare center. The Laksa restaurant offers traditional Thai meals at affordable rates. While in town, be sure to stop by the Laksa Gallery for some of the finest art work from all over the world.
For those who prefer an environmentally-friendly lifestyle, Tengah also has a housing option that is green friendly. The residents of Tengah Town are very involved in keeping the environment clean and free from inorganic waste. There are many residents who live on a monthly renewable “bio-loan,” which they pay back with use of their land and food production. This provides them with a very sustainable way of living while helping to conserve food resources. Some residents even have small gardens in their homes.
If you are interested in history, Tengah Town offers some very interesting relics from its ancient past. The Bamboo Island ruins are a must-see site, as are the Khom compounds and Tanjung Mas Ruins.
